Dear Member
We have prepared this as part of our continuing efforts to place Accident line in the lead in meeting consumer concerns about the accident compensation sector. We believe all of our members, as quality firms specialising in personal injury work, will already comply.
Why have we prepared this now?
It was clear to us from our discussions with the Citizens Advice and others that sales and marketing techniques were causing grave concern to them and to other advising in this field. We commissioned research which confirmed public dislike of intensive sales and marketing techniques, which are also now used by some claims companies. Of course solicitors cannot cold call private customers. We thought we should commit ourselves as well.
Abbey Legal Protection sponsored an invitation only Forum on Raising Standards in Accident Compensation, hosted by the Law Society and NACAB on 29th April. Liz Barclay of BBC Radio 4 acted as facilitator. It was attended by a wide range of consumer, legal, claims company, trade union and insurance organisations, together with regulatory bodies. This developed from an idea promoted by Accident Line, and some of our members were invited to the event.
It was very clear that these issues were crucial to a lot of consumer and advice interests. Copies of the charter will be going to all of these key opinion formers and to all CABx .
The Charter will be a useful marketing tool as you and we continue to differentiate ourselves from the competition. Why not give a copy to all your personal injury clients? It can be downloaded using the links below or you can order printed copies from the Marketing Support Team on 08000 28 29 58.
